Colon Hydrotherapy (Colonics) F.A.Q.

What happens during a Colon Hydrotherapy session ?

Colon hydrotherapy involves the safe, gentle infusion of water into the colon. The entire therapy is both relaxing and effective.

During therapy the client lies on a custom treatment table in complete comfort. From the colon hydrotherapy instrument a small disposable speculum is gently inserted into the rectum... through which warm filtered water passes into the colon.

Modern state-of-the-art colon hydrotherapy equipment utilizes multistage water purification systems, individual disposables which eliminate any possible contamination, a lighted viewing chamber and a system for additives administration.

This is a closed system... allowing waste to be cleanly transported into the drain line without offensive odor and supporting the dignity of the individual. After each therapy session, the unit is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected.

A skilled colon hydrotherapy specialist will use several fills and releases of water, as well as light massage techniques permitted by the client, to dislodge toxic waste matter adhered to the walls of the colon.

During the therapy, water temperature and pressure will be monitored by the colon therapist and can be varied to stimulate peristalsis (muscular contraction) in the colon.

Do the treatments hurt ?

No. In fact many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing.

How long does a treatment take ?

Actual treatment time is about 45 minutes, but you should plan a total session visit of one hour in duration.

What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy cleansing ?

Refrain from eating before the cleansing, be as relaxed as possible and enjoy a positive, cheerful attitude.

Does a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session effect treatment ?

No, in fact it's usually a good time to receive a treatment, since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment.

Can I work directly after having a colon hydrotherapy session ?

Certainly. You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.

Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the cleansing ?

Usually not, but since the cleansing will stir up a lot of old debris and toxins, some may experience some minor nausea or fatigue. This can be the natural cleansing, healing process of the body. If any discomfort occurs, rest and application of a warm heating pad to the abdomen are options. If you wish, a mild vegetable broth or peppermint tea may be of help. Any discomfort will usually pass within 24 hours.

How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment compare to an enema ?

An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy, the entire length of the colon (the large intestinal tract approximately 5 to 5 1/2 feet in length) is reached.

Some say that Colon Hydrotherapy is equivalent to 30 enemas.

What is the advantage of a series of sessions ?

A single session of Colon Hydrotherapy offers you an excellent opportunity to restore and maintain optimum health in your life.

For someone who has never had a colon hydrotherapy treatment, it is not uncommon to find additional benefit in a "series" of 3 therapies within approximately a 7 to 10 day time period.

A series may also be helpful for those whose last treatment was longer than six (6) months ago.
